World Climate Day was commemorated on 26 March and we at Endolla Barcelona would like to remind you of the importance of this date to raise our collective awareness of the issue.
The day was declared under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, established in 1992.
It commemorates the importance of raising awareness among the entire population of the major role played by climate in our lives and of the direct consequences of climate change for society.
The importance of World Climate Day
This day is important for inviting all city residents to reflect on present and future commitments to ensure society’s well-being. It is also a day when we press upon the corresponding authorities the need to take notice and propose solutions for halting climate change, the consequences of which could end up devastating for our planet.
How you can join in with World Climate Day
You can take part in this event every day of the year by putting several everyday initiatives into practice to help combat climate change:
- Opting for energy efficiency by switching off lights when you don’t need them and using low-consumption electronic devices.
- Reducing CO2 emissions by using green and sustainable transport, such as bicycles and electric vehicles. Travelling on public transport and sharing journeys when using polluting vehicles.
- Reducing, reusing and recycling by buying products with less plastic packaging, separating waste properly at home and giving a second life to used items.
- Raising awareness among your family, social and work environments of the importance of looking after our planet and being proactive when acting to reduce CO2 emissions.
Reducing CO2 emissions to halt climate change
Travelling by car only when strictly necessary. If you must use a car, invest in an electric vehicle. Travelling in these types of vehicles considerably reduces your environmental impact.
