The Christmas holidays are drawing near and that means more journeys by road to make the most of them. If you have opted to travel by electric car, it’s a decision that will help the planet, so we want to give you a few tips to enjoy your trip.

Plan your route by electric car

It is very important to plan well before starting the route, especially if it’s long distance. In the case of electric vehicles (EVs), the primary factor you have to consider before going on long journeys is the battery range
EVs have an average range of between 300 and 350 kilometres, although some models can reach up to 600 kilometres.
It is always a good idea to set off with the battery fully charged and to locate the charging points on the route

Things to bear in mind to control the range

An important factor in calculating the route by electric car is the orography of the area because travelling through flat terrain and mountainous terrain are very different. The relief will affect how far you can go and while on flat terrain you will be able to use the eco mode and regenerative braking, allowing you to charge the battery somewhat, in mountainous terrain the battery consumption will increase
Another aspect to consider is controlling the weight inside the vehicle. Packing too much in your suitcase will directly affect the car’s range.
Controlling the air conditioning will be important too because like the weight, this will have a significant effect on battery energy consumption. We therefore recommend using the pre-conditioning system.

Get your car checked before setting off

Although one of the advantages of electric cars is that they do not require as much maintenance as those with a combustion engine, it is advisable to have them checked before embarking on a long journey. Remember to check that the tyres, discs and brake fluid are in optimum conditions.

Journeys in low temperatures

As this trip will take place during the winter, an important factor you will have to consider is the intense cold , which is not a good ally of your battery. In very cold areas, batteries run out sooner and take longer to recharge
To optimise your journey time, we recommend you organise stops and take advantage of the charging time to rest or eat something
Last, it is always advisable to look for accommodation with charging points so that you can make the short journeys you need during your stay.

Remember that you have the Endolla Barcelona network charging points at your disposal to charge your vehicle before starting your journey. Enjoy low-emission driving and carry on looking after the planet during your holidays.
